Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Italian preview of the new edition of Wildlife Photographer of the yearprestigious annual award dedicated to nature photography and promoted by the Natural History Museum, London. 100 photographs, selected among the over ten thousands shots from 95 countries, that tell about our planet, illustrating its beauty and highlighting its fragility. Wildlife, landscapes, infinite horizons and fascinating details, unknown and endangered species: a precious heritage that needs to be protected.

The Grand Title Winner is the Dutch photographer Marsel van Oosten, with his photograph The Golden Couple, portrait of two golden-nosed monkeys in the temperate forest of the Chinese Qinling mountains, the only habitat for this endangered species: a shot defined “traditional and magical” by Roz Kidman Coz, president of the jury.
The image of a leopard awakening in the Mashatu Game Reserve (Botswana) made by the 16-year-old Skye Meaker, has been awarded in the Young category.
Six Italians photographers awarded, among the others, Marco Colombo, winner of the Urban Wildlife section with Crossing Paths: a Marsican bear that crosses the deserted streets of an Apennine village by night.
