Nel mirino | L’italia e il mondo nell’Archivio Publifoto 1939-1981

Almost half century of events, news and history, told through 240 images taken by photographers about what was for a long time the most important Italian photojournalistic agency, in the period between 1939 and 1981, the year of the disappearance of his founder, Vincenzo Carrese.
To highlight the link between images and the print of the time, the exhibition, curated by Aldo Grasso and Walter Guadagnini, is built on the model of an illustrated magazine, with sections dedicated to politics, news, abroad, customs, society , to culture and sport.

The Publifoto archive, recently acquired by Intesa Sanpaolo, is an immense heritage that holds facts and stories that, thanks also to the skill of the photographers, have become part of the collective imagination of the twentieth century. It is a world that is reborn to new life and still arouses emotions. As Aldo Grasso pointed out: “the work of the photographer is always twofold: on the one hand it plunders but at the same time preserves; it denounces but at the same time consecrates”.
