David LaChapelle

The Maschio Angioino in Naples hosts some of the most significant shots of the artist David LaChapelle, retracing the main stages of his career.

40 works are exhibited, witnessing the incredible level of awareness of the construction and artistic fiction by LaChapelle, who through bright colors and artificial scenery emphasizes the glossy iconography of Western society.

Together with the artist’s most famous works, there are also some new negatives reworked by hand; intended as a study on metaphysics and on the ephemeral and sublime essence of life, they were produced by LaChapelle during the 1980s, a historical period in which the debate on AIDS was particularly felt.
