Ruth Orkin – Leggenda della fotografia

Musei Civici di Bassano del Grappa host the first Italian monograph of Ruth Orkin, the historic American photographer and filmmaker.

The retrospective is being held in Bassano on the occasion of the centenary of the artist’s birth (1921); the exhibition has been displayee in various locations between New York and Toronto, and after the first (and only) Italian stop, it will prepare to travel to the rest of Europe.

The monograph reflects Orkin’s aesthetic style, which skillfully blends photographic and cinematographic language; whether it was a matter of subjects belonging to the Hollywood star system or of ordinary New Yorkers, the American photographer always tried to transpose single shots into visual novels, stories created through static images, largely inspired by the most important films of the time.
