The female universe captured by the sensibility of the great American photographer: the large retrospective on display at Abano Terme includes 80 photographs, in black and white and in color, of great intensity and expressive power. Among the others, there are divas, like a languid Marilyn Monroe or a provocative Marlene Dietrich, or ordinary women, like the African-Americans in the Harlem ghetto, or those of Afghanistan in 1969.
Eve Arnold was the first photographer, with Inge Morath, to join the historic Magnum agency at the time when it was the preserve of male photographers (she was called by Cartier-Bresson in 1951). He has portrayed celebrities from Hollywood but also dedicated himself to travel reports (China, Afghanistan, Mongolia). His works on the condition of women in the Middle East and the touching “A baby’s first five minutes” in which he tells the first moments of life of newborns at the Mother Hospital of Port Jefferson are famous.
