The people I like

Triennale Milano, in collaboration with the MAXXI museum in Rome and the Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea, pays tribute to the late portrait photographer Giovanni Gastel with two exhibitions in his honor, The people I like and I gioielli della fantasia.

Gastel returns to enchant the viewer with his 200 portraits in the Triennale exhibition; here is the heart of the production of the Milanese photographer, who over the decades has made portraiture his favorite form of expression, understood as the basis for a mutual sincere and interior research.

The mosaic of faces, exhibited without chronological or ontological order, is accompanied by another exhibition, smaller but no less evocative in its aesthetics; I gioielli della fantasia (The Jewels of Fantasy) presents twenty or so shots, produced by Gastel on commission from Daniel Swarowsky Corporation, who in 1991 offered the Italian photographer one of his first, very important works.
