The love for letterature according to Steve McCurry. Torino, city of the “Salone del libro”, hosts a new exhibition of the famous american photographer: 65 intense portraits of people from all over the world “absorbed in the intimate and universal act of reading”. Photographs “captured” in over 40 years of career in the most different contexts, from streets to markets, from place of worship to place of war, from Cuba to Italy, from India to Afghanistan.

Young and old peoples immersed in the pages of a book or a newspaper, concentrated and almost detached from the reality that surrounds them, whether serene or dramatic. Each photograph is accompanied by a literary passage chosen by the writer Roberto Cotroneo. A section is dedicated to books with McCurry’s photographs published since 1985, some of which are nowhere to be found.
