Magnum’s First | La prima mostra di Magnum

The exhibition is focus on a  surprising discovery: the 83 black and white photographs that composed “Gesicht der Zeit” (The face of time), the first exhibition of the Magnum Photos agency, created between 1955 and 1956 in Austria, with the works of 8 great masters of photography. The same prints, found after 50 years (in 2006) in a cellar in Innsbruck enclosed in two boxes and still mounted on panels, are now on display at the Diocesano museum in  Milan.

The exhibition, curated by Andrea Holzherr in collaboration with Magnum, reproposes the eight photojournalistic services in the original photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Ernst Haas, Werner Bischof, Inge Morat, Jean Marquis, Erich Lessing. Marc Ribound and the idea of the first exhibition as it was conceived, in its original layout.
