Liu Bolin | Visible Invisible
14 May 2019 - 15 September 2019
The borders between photography and performance among the individual and the world disappear. The Chinese artist Liu Bolin (1973), internationally known for his original works and his mimetic abilities: thanks to a careful body painting, portrays himself integrating perfectly with the background of his works, almost disappearing.
The artist hide himself, in the background, in emblematic places, evoking cultural identities, critical reflections, social disputes, generating different reading levels in his works. the attention shifts from the moment of shooting to the conception, preparation, installation of the shooting, highlighting a long and complex process. From the surprising fifty photographs on display, besides the ones realized in New York, London, Beijing, there are also two unplished works: the photographs realized in the “Sala di Caravaggio” in Rome in 2019 and the shoot dedicated to the Pietà Rondanini, at Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
