JOEL MEYEROWITZ. Leica Hall of Fame 2016

At the spaces of the Leica Store in Milan is organized a collection of photographs by Joel Meyerovitz, who contributed to emancipate the role of color photography, finally separating it from the glossy graphic icon of magazines, television and advertising.

50 pictures are displayed in JOEL MEYEROWITZ. Leica Hall of Fame 2016, curated by Karin Rehn Kaufmann, and with adaptation by Denis Curti and Maurizio Beucci.

Meyerovitz has established himself, over the years, as one of the main protagonists of street photography; scenes of everyday life, passersby intent on living their hectic lives within the dense urban fabrics of American metropolises, etc… whether it was the United States or the European continent, Meyerovitz was able to capture the heart of consumer society and the emerging capitalist culture that was beginning to make its way in the early 1960s.
