Giulio Di Sturco | Ganga Ma
25 September 2019 - 15 November 2019
Ganga Ma, or mother Gange, the big sacred river. In over ten years of research, Di Sturco followed his riverbed for 2500miles, documenting with calmness, with photographs with muted tones, almost poetic, the terrible effects of pollution and industrialization.
The Gange is the subsistence source of millions of persons that live along its banks. Its ecosystem includes various species wich risk to be destroyed due to the toxic waste disposed every day in its water. Awarded with various prizes, the project Ganga Ma shows how the river is on the edge of a humanitarian crisis and ecological disaster. Giulio di Sturco reaches the goal with almost surreal images, built on balanced compositions that outline desolate and arid landscapes.
