A fundamental annual event on contemporaneity, in 2021 Fotografia Europea has shown an extraordinary ability to rethink itself. The playful and imaginative dream inspired by Gianni Rodari and his poetry overlapped with randomness and unpredictability and combined with fantasy, as an antidote and resource against the difficulties of reality.
For Cortona on the Move 2021 was an important turning point: from the next edition the direction will be entrusted to Veronica Nicolardi and Paolo Woods will be artistic director.

The Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD) was founded in 1975 when all the production of two historical institutes flew into it: the National Photographic Cabinet (GFN), founded in 1895 by Giovanni Gargiolli, and the National Aerial Photo Library, founded in 1958. In recent years, the Institute’s interest has also turned to contemporary photography with the acquisition of archival copies of authorial photographic projects.
