Thomas Jorion | Veduta
10 December 2019 - 31 January 2020
Magnificent and decadent places of art, sumptuous and forgotten spaces, glimpses of “great beauty” of abandoned Italy, of which nobody remembers anymore. The photographs in the series Veduta, taken between 2009 and 2019, pay homage to the ancient glory of theatres, palaces, gardens, residences that today have become dusty ruins. Remains that acquire a new splendour through the eye of Jorion.
The French photographer creates his photographs in natural light using an analogue large format 4×5” camera. Jorion’s images are full of fascination and mystery, following a completely unique aesthetic, suspended between decay and eternal beauty, reminiscent of Piranesi and Italian painting of the eighteenth century.
