Emiliano Mancuso | Una diversa bellezza. Italia 2003 – 2018

Not a classic beauty, but “sociological postcards” that portraits an Italy sore and melancholy. The photographic legacy left by Mancuso, who died prematurely in 2018, is summarized in a journey of 150 images divided into four sections, taken in over 15 years: four stories that give voice to difficult stories, without however lingering over the discomfort of situations.

During his carrier, the author explored different techniques and languages: black and white, colors, analog, digital, polaroid and video. The exhibition, curated by Renata Ferri, shows the following works: Terre di Sud (2003-2008), a reportage on the south of Italy that plod along the era of globalization; Stato D’Italia  (2008-2011), that tell stories of social and economic crisis in the country gathered in 3 years of investigation; Il diario di Felix (2016), on the community of Casa Felix, on the outskirts of Rome, which hosts children with family and criminal problems; Cicale (2018), co-directed with Federico Romano, an intimate tale of the everyday life of people struggling to survive.
