Sclavanie

SMO (Slovenian Multimedia Museum) hosts the shots of Davide Degano’s long-term work focused on the slavic area in Italy, accompanying us not only to the borders of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, but also of Italy itself.

The photographs, which cover a time span that begins in 2015 and ends in 2020, play the role of ethnographic and anthropological documentation of the people who inhabit the most mountainous areas of Friuli, straddling Slovenia. The concept of border in this case does not act as a separator, but as a cultural and linguistic glue for a reality with a thousand historical facets.

Among tales of migrations and returns, emerges the need to preserve these microcosms that constantly risk being swallowed up by the globalized world, in order not to erase their historical and cultural importance.

On the occasion of the inauguration of “Sclavanie” curated by studiofaganel, will be presented also the homonymous volume published by Penisola Edizioni and realized through a crowdfunding campaign on produzionidalbasso.
