Robert Doisneau
23 September 2021 - 30 January 2022
Palazzo Roverella is exhibiting some of the most iconic shots in the history of 20th century European photography: the pictures of Robert Doisneau, the “fisherman of images”, as he called himself, take the viewer back to mid-20th century Parisian society.
The images depict citizens of all kinds; the souls of the French capital are captured, or rather “fished” in all their intimacy and humanity, thanks to which Doisneau is today recognized as a master of European street photography.
The black and whites of the greatest exponent of humanist photography in France create poems and visual compositions behind which the viewer can build stories, tales, imaginary narratives that arise from the charm of the shots.
